PROJECT OVERVIEW:
We renovated an existing procedural space and created two large conference rooms within the large area. We removed all lighting, ductwork, and flooring, and totally renovated the space from the ground. We infilled a large area in the floor that was not level with the main floor level by using elevated slab metal and foam blocks. This space was right next to the main food court at Shands Hospital, so coordination with shutdowns and deliveries were a must.
The areas around the restrooms stayed fully operational during construction, so we had to ensure that patient traffic outside the restrooms was not impacted. We also made sure all outages with fire alarm, water, electrical, and fire water were coordinated around the occupant’s schedule and to conduct fire watch during those outages. We created a negative pressure area inside the restroom s relative to the corridor that way all the dust stays inside the project. We also created temp walls in front of the renovated space to keep the patients and staff out until we were completely done. We worked at night during loud activities, so the patients and staff were not impacted during the day.
